Privacy policy
Effective 17 September 2026. Last updated 17 September 2026. Covers freeapp.ai and the VoiceBridge Android app (freeapp.voicebridge.ai).
VoiceBridge is a client for a server you run yourself. Your speech, your
conversations and your files go to your server and nowhere
else. We do not sit in the middle of that connection, we never receive your
conversations, and the app contains no analytics, advertising or
crash-reporting SDK of any kind.
Who is responsible
Freeapp SRL, trading as freeapp.ai ("freeapp.ai", "we", "us"), is the
controller of the personal
data described in this policy. For anything in it, including a request
to see, correct or delete what we hold, email
contact@freeapp.ai. We answer
within 30 days.
The app: what it sends, and where
At setup you supply the address of your own VoiceBridge server.
Everything below travels to that address over an encrypted connection,
and to no other destination:
- Audio you speak. Streamed to your server while a conversation is active, so it can be transcribed and answered there. The app does not record when a conversation is not running.
- Text you type, and files or images you attach. Sent only when you send them.
Your server may in turn pass your words to an AI provider you chose and
configured with your own key. That relationship is yours, under that
provider's terms and privacy policy. We are not a party to it.
What stays on your phone
- Conversation history, in a database on the device. Uninstalling the app deletes it.
- Connection settings, including your server address and access token, in Android's app-private storage.
- Camera frames. The optional self-view preview is drawn on screen only. No photo is captured, no frame is analysed, and nothing from the camera is transmitted or stored.
What the app sends us
Nothing. There is no account, no sign-in, no device
identifier collected, no usage analytics and no crash reporting. No data
from the app reaches freeapp.ai.
The website: what we collect
- Your cookie choice, in
localStorage under freeapp-consent. Necessary, and it is the only thing we store before you choose.
- Server request logs kept by our host for security and abuse prevention, including IP address, and deleted on their normal rotation.
- Analytics, only if you tap Accept all. A self-hosted Umami instance that counts page views and a small number of events (a checkout started, a sign-up). It sets no advertising cookie, builds no cross-site profile, and the script is not loaded at all if you choose Necessary only.
- Your email address, if you join the waiting list or buy a licence, so we can send your invite and receipt.
- Payment details. Checkout runs on Stripe. Stripe sees your card; we do not. We receive the fact that a payment succeeded, the amount, and the email you used.
- Your GitHub username, if you are a founder and redeem access to a private repository, so the invitation can be sent.
- Messages you send us by email.
Why we are allowed to hold it
- Contract. Your email, payment confirmation and GitHub username, to deliver what you bought.
- Consent. Analytics, and marketing email. Withdraw either at any time, with the link in every email or by clearing your cookie choice.
- Legitimate interest. Server logs, to keep the site up and stop abuse.
- Legal obligation. Invoices and tax records, kept as long as the law requires.
Who else sees it
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or transfer it to
anyone for their own purposes. We use a small number of processors to run
the service: Stripe for payment, Vercel
for hosting, Resend for email, GitHub
for founder repository access, and our own self-hosted
Umami for analytics. Some are outside the EEA and rely on
Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
- Waiting-list emails: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
- Customer records and invoices: as long as tax law requires.
- Analytics: aggregate counts, no per-visitor rows retained.
- Server logs: our host's rotation, typically weeks, not years.
Permissions the app asks for, and why
- Microphone. To hear you. Audio goes to your server only, while a conversation is running.
- Notifications. To show conversation status while the app is in the background.
- Display over other apps. For the optional floating orb.
- Camera. Optional self-view preview, off unless you turn it on.
- Bluetooth. To use a paired headset as the microphone.
Cookies
We set no advertising or tracking cookies, and no third party
sets one through us. What we do store on your device is:
- Your cookie choice, in
localStorage under freeapp-consent. Strictly necessary, and it is the only thing stored before you choose. Without it the banner could not remember being dismissed.
- Analytics, only after you tap Accept all. Our self-hosted Umami counts page views and a few events. Choose Necessary only and the script is never loaded at all, so nothing is stored and nothing is reported.
To change your mind, clear this site's data in your browser and the
banner returns.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold, correct it, delete it,
restrict or object to how we use it, or have it sent to you in a portable
format. Email contact@freeapp.ai.
Most of it you can settle yourself: conversation data lives on your phone
and on your server, so clearing the app's data, uninstalling it, or
deleting it on your server removes it without asking us. If you are in
the EU or UK you also have the right to complain to your data protection
authority.
Children
freeapp.ai and VoiceBridge are developer tools, not directed at children
under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what the app sends or what
we hold, we update the date at the top of this page and describe the
change in the app's release notes.
